Cypress Swamp or Great Pocomoke Swamp, in S Del. and SE Md., freshwater swamp covering c.50 sq mi/130 sq km, mainly in S Sussex co., Del.; source of Pocomoke R., flows S, and Pepper Creek flows NE; 38°29'N 75°18'W. Once yielded much cypress timber. Timber harvesting and disastrous peat fire (1930) destroyed much vegetation. Also called Big Cypress Swamp.
