Cypress, city (1990 pop. 42,655), Orange co., S Calif., suburb, 17 mi/27 km SE of downtown Los Angeles and 9 mi/14.5 km ENE of Long Beach; 33°49'N 118°02'W. Forest Lawn–Cypress, a branch of the famous cemetery in Glendale, Calif., is a major employer. Mfg. (printing and publishing, fabricated metal prods., computer equip., machinery). The city’s pop. has grown with the development of the area. Cypress Jr. Col. (2-year) and Los Alamitos Racetrack and the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station are S. San Gabriel R. to W. Inc. 1956.
