Cocke (KAHK), county (434 sq mi/1,124 sq km; 1990 pop. 29,141), E Tenn.; Newport; 35°56'N 83°07'W. Borders SE on N.C.; Great Smoky and Bald mtn. ranges are along state border. Includes sections of Great Smoky Mts. Natl. Park, Cherokee Natl. Forest, and Douglas Reservoir. Drained by French Broad, Pigeon, and Nolichucky rivers. Forest and farm region, with active barite mines and idle iron-ore and granite quarries; corn, tobacco, tomatoes, apples; dairy prods.; livestock. Formed 1797.
