Eastchester, residential town (5 sq mi/13 sq km; 1990 pop. 18,537), Westchester co., SE N.Y., just E of Yonkers; includes Bronxville and Tuckahoe villages; 40°57'N 73°48'W. Growing Asian community in the area. Once a township (formed 1788) extending from the present Bronx N to Scarsdale; Mt. Vernon city was separated from it in 1892; the sect. S of Mt. Vernon was annexed by N.Y. city in 1895.
