Ashton, town (1990 pop. 1,114), Fremont co., E Idaho, near Henrys Fork, 14 mi/23 km NE of St Anthony; 44°04'N 111°27'W. Elev. 5,256 ft/1,602 m. Trading point in irrigated agr. area (wheat, seed peas, potatoes); logging, lumbering; hydroelectric plant. Dude ranches nearby. Yellowstone Natl. Park (mainly in Wyo., partly in Mont. and Idaho to NE) and Grand Teton Natl. Park to SE. Isl. Park Reservoir with Harriman State Park on its shore; Targhee Natl. Forest to N and E. Upper Mesa Falls (114 ft/35 m) and Lower Mes Falls (65 ft/20 m), on Henry’s Fork, to NE. Inc. 1906.
