Grand Marais (muh-RAI), town (1990 pop. 1,171), Cook co., NE Minn., 110 mi/177 km NE of Duluth, on Grand Marais Harbor, L. Superior, in Superior Natl. Forest; 47°45'N 90°20'W. Elev. 688 ft/210 m. Resort area, recreation; timber; mfg. (lumber [beech and cedar], wood chips). Cascade State Park to SW; Kodonce R. State Wayside to E; Grand Portage State Forest to NE. Eagle Mt. (2,301 ft/701 m) highest point in Minn., 13 mi/21 km NW. Devil Track L. to NW; Wild Flower Sanctuary to NE, on Devil Track R.
