Ciudad Obregón (syoo-DAHD o-brai-GON), city (1990 pop. 219,980), Cajeme municipio, Sonora, NW Mexico, in irrigated lowland of Gulf of California (Yaqui R. delta), on RR, and 65 mi/105 km SE of Guaymas, on Mexico Highway 15; 27°28'N 109°59'W. Agr. center (rice, fruit, winter vegetables, cotton; cattle); rice and flour milling, fruit canning. Copper mines nearby. Sometimes called Cajeme.
