| Chilkat Pass (CHIL-kat), in Coast Range, NW B.C., W Canada, near U.S. (Alaska) and Yukon borders, 50 mi/80 km WNW of Skagway. Discovered 1880; became important route from Haines (Alaska), to Yukon during Klondike gold rush in 1890s. Now crossed by Haines Cut-off, branch of Alaska Highway. |
