Comite (KO-meet), river, c. 65 mi/105 km long; SW Mo. and SE La., formed by the joining of Comite Creek and Little Comite Creek, S. of Centervillle, Mo; flows S past Clinton, La., joins Amite R. E of Baton Rouge. With a 296 mi/476 km perimeter, its basin has an area of 722 sq mi/1,869 sq km, 95% forested. Along with the Amite R., it is subject to frequent flooding.
