| Fort Vancouver National Historic Site (209 acres/85 ha), Vancouver, Clark co., SW Wash., near Columbia R. Site of western hq. of Hudsons Bay Company (18251849) and later of a U.S. Army fort. Became the center of commercial, political, and cultural activities for Pacific Northwest. Authorized 1948 as natl. monument, changed to historic site 1961. |
