Perrot, Jules
 
 
(zhül pr´) (KEY) , 1810–92, French dancer and choreographer, b. Lyons. Perrot studied with Auguste Vestris and Salvatore Vigano. He gained fame as a dancer before turning to choreography. From 1848 to 1859 he worked at the Imperial Theatre in St. Petersburg. His ballets included Esmeralda, Ondine, Le Corsaire, and part of the original Giselle (1841).
