Perrot, Georges
 
 
(zhôrzh pr´) (KEY) , 1832–1914, French archaeologist. He was professor at the Sorbonne from 1875, director of the École normale supérieure, Paris, from 1888 to 1902, and permanent secretary of the Academy of Inscriptions. While a member of an archaeological expedition (1861) to Asia Minor, he reconstructed the text of a bilingual record of the reign of Augustus on the walls of a temple at Ancyra and published his results in Exploration archéologique de la Galatie et de la Bithynie (1862–72). Perrot edited and contributed to the Revue archéologique. His works include Histoire de l’art dans l’antiquité (with Charles Chipiez, 10 vol., 1882–1914).
