Jobert, Michel
(mshl´ zhôbr´) (KEY) , 19212002, French diplomat, b. Morocco (then a French colony). In 1963, he joined Georges Pompidous staff during Pompidous premiership. After Pompidous election as president (1969), Jobert was his adviser on foreign affairs. A skillful negotiator, he helped bring about Great Britains entry (1973) into the European Community (now the European Union). He was French foreign minister (Apr., 1973May, 1974) and foreign trade minister (198183) in a Socialist-led government.
