| Bourrienne, Louis Antoine Fauvelet de |

(lw äNtwän´ f v l ´ d b r n´) (KEY) , 17691834, French political figure. He was a friend and for a time (17971802) private secretary to Napoleon, who made him a councillor of state. Bourrienne later supported the Bourbon restoration and was elected to the chamber of deputies, where he was a spokesman for the ultraroyalist followers of King Charles X. His memoirs (10 vol., 182931) are vivid but untrustworthy. |
