Madrigal

Anonymous

BROWN is my love but graceful;

And each renownèd whiteness,

Matched with thy lovely brown, loseth its brightness.

Fair is my love, but scornful;

Yet have I seen despisèd

Dainty white lilies, and sad flowers well prizèd.
