and the Ar'vadite, and the Zem'arite, and the Ha'mathite. |

¶ The sons of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphax'ad, and Lud, and Aram, and Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech. |

And Arphax'ad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber. |

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; 1 because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name was Joktan. |

And when Hadad was dead, Samlah of Masre'kah reigned in his stead. |

And when Samlah was dead, Sha'ul of Reho'both by the river reigned in his stead. |

And when Sha'ul was dead, Ba'al–ha'nan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. |

And when Ba'al–ha'nan was dead, Hadad reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pa'i; and his wife's name was Mehet'abel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me'zahab. |

Hadad died also. ¶ And the dukes of Edom were; duke Timnah, duke Ali'ah, duke Jetheth, |

duke Aholiba'mah, duke Elah, duke Pinon, |
| 53 |
duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar, |
| 54 |
duke Mag'di-el, duke Iram. These are the dukes of Edom. |
